"SHU" stands for "book" or "calligraphy" in Chinese.
Chinese had loads of superstitions about everything, no exclusion even for numbers. Handial had chosen "three", "six" and "nine" for the series of SHU. Not only because they are the numbers located in the quarters of watches. They are also "Good" numbers in Chinese Culture.

In Chinese tradition, certain numbers are believed by some to be auspicious (吉利) or inauspicious (不利) based on the Chinese word that the number name sounds similar to.
